This study attempted to empirically examin how much mental health screening and linking to psychotherapy systematically contribute to preventing recidivism of juvenile probationers. To this end, in order to compare the cases before and after the mental health screening, 351 juvenile probation cases in specific areas were collected in 2022 before the mental health screening and in 2023 afterwards, and the number of counseling treatments, compliance violation rates, and recidivism rates were compared. Frequency analysis and cross-analysis were used among descriptive statistics to understand the application status of mental health screening, and logistic regression analysis was used to find factors that have a significant impact on recidivism. As a result, the linkage rate for counseling/ treatment in the early stages increased significantly compared to the previous year, the recidivism rate decreased by 2.3%, and the compliance rate such as the number of warnings more than doubled. However, the number of recidivism rates seems to require more follow-up in the future. Based on these results, it was suggested that mental health screening tests be mandatory for juvenile probationers, that psychotherapy teams be expanded, that professional manpower be recruited and employees should be encouraged to develop themselves, and that psychotherapy teams be organized directly.
